Tim Sexton is currently a doctoral teaching assistant at the University of Utah, helping Professor Scott Hagen and Dr. Mike Cottle with instrumental conducting and music technology respectively. He was thankful to have served as a graduate assistant for Dr. Joe Tornello at Boise State University, for he was able to acquire a master’s degree in trumpet performance. Sexton taught as a middle school and high school band director in North West Georgia between his educational experiences, having also toured Japan as a professional performer with the cast of Blast! Brass Theater prior to that. He acquired a bachelor of arts degree in music education from Jacksonville State University (AL).
Sexton has been an active music educator for non-profit music organizations since 2012. Tim is currently entering his third season as a brass instructor for The Cavaliers (IL) drum and bugle corps. He has previously taught as a visual instructor for the Madison Scouts (WI) and Crossmen (TX) drum and bugle corps. Sexton has also thankfully worked with WGI Winds groups since the activity’s inception, previously instructing and consulting for Ola High School (GA) and Point University (GA). Both groups were proud to have received top three recognition in their respective classes at WGI Finals in Dayton, OH during their active years of performance. Tim is humbled to have co-founded Armada Winds alongside Frank Mastropaolo, having been named the Independent Open Champions at Portland’s WGI Regional in 2019.
